Staten Island parents, find out how your child's school did on New York State reading and math exams.
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- And the numbers are in.
Overall, students in Staten Island public schools performed well, outscoring their peers throughout the city on state standardized reading and math exams for the 2015-2016 school year.
According to borough and District 31 results from the Department of Education:
- For the 2015-2016 school year more than 37 percent of all Staten Island students in third- through eighth-grade received a grade of "proficient" (Level 3) or "excelling" (Level 4) on the state's English Language Assessment (ELA) exam that students took in April.
- Island students did slightly better in math, with more than 38 percent scoring at Level 3 or 4.
- Citywide, more than 30 percent of all students tested in third- through eighth-grade received a grade of "proficient" (Level 3) or "excelling" (Level 4) on the ELA, while more than 35 percent scored at Level 3 or 4 on the math exam.
Mayor Bill de Blasio and City Schools Chancellor Carmen Farina touted the citywide gains in test scores, noting the improvement in the performance of city students on the math and ELA exams exceeded the rest of the state.

To use the search tool:
1. Type the first few characters of your school's name in the first field, for example P.S. 3 or I.S. 75. (Note: You must use periods, as in "P.S. 50." It may not work if you omit the periods.)
2. A list of schools will appear; simply choose your school from the list.
3. Then choose either ELA or Math in the second field and click SEARCH.
The search results will show the percentage of students who passed the exam.
