Program takes place at Wagner College on Feb. 2 at 10 a.m.
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Applying for college can be a scary prospect. Finding ways to pay for it can be even scarier. But high school seniors can get a jump-start in learning how to navigate the financial aid process by attending College Goal New York at Wagner College, Grymes Hill, on Feb. 2 at 10 a.m.
Volunteer administrators from Wagner, the City University of New York and Columbia University will guide students as they fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
The online application can be completed on the spot.
"The aid process can seem overwhelming, so what we're hoping to accomplish with the event is to make that process a little less daunting," said Theresa M. Weimer, director of financial aid at Wagner, which has been the Staten Island host site for the statewide program since its inception.
"It's really an opportunity for the family to get some one-on-one time with a professional, but also for us to help ensure their forms are being completed correctly."
Pre-registration is required.
