Italian-American state lawmakers offer college scholarships, urge Staten Islanders to apply

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Staten Island high school students and current college students can now apply to one of four $2,500 scholarships provided by the New York Conference of Italian-American State Legislators. STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Staten Island high school students and current college students can now apply to one of four $2,500 scholarships provided by the New York Conference of Italian-American State Legislators.

Assemblyman Matthew Titone (D-North Shore), Assemblyman Joe Borelli (R-South Shore), Sen. Diane Savino (D-North Shore/Brooklyn) and Sen. Andrew Lanza (R-Staten Island) announced the four scholarships will be awarded June 8 at their annual Legislative Conference Day.

The four scholarships will go to current or future college students from New York.  Academic and athletic scholarships are available and eligibility is based on the student's grade point average, interest in pursuing a higher education, involvement in their community and financial need.

The New York Conference of Italian-American State Legislators is a bipartisan organization of Assembly and Senate members who promote and celebrate the state's Italian-American community.
